authors’ guides to the chinese journal of guidance and counselling

introduction
 
The Chinese journal of Guidance and Counselling is published under the auspices of the Chinese Guidance and Counselling Association. The journal releases three issues a year. This academic journal is aimed at promoting the professional development and academic dialog among scholars in the fields of guidance and counselling. The journal mainly publishes original empirical researches or literature review related to counseling, guidance and psychology in Chinese-related cultures and populations, also welcomes submission of case study or research methodology related papers. 

 
formatting and style for the manusc ripts

































 




all submitted manusc ripts should contain a chinese abstract, the main body of the article, references, and an english abstract. the normal main body of an article consists of four sections, “introduction”, “research method”, “research result”, and “discussion and implication”. the texts should be type-written in horizontal direction and in portrait orientation on a4 pages. submissions should be made using microsoft word 2003 or any newer editions, using 1.5 spacing, 2.54 cm for the top and bottom margins, and 3.17 cm for the left and right margins. chinese submissions should be no more than 25,000 chinese words in length, using a font size of 10 and the 新細明 typeface. english submissions should be no more than 12,000 english words in length, using a font size of 10 and the times new roman typeface.
the principle of anonymity should be followed throughout the entire manusc ript. contents of the manusc ripts should be arranged and edited in the following orders and formats.
 
1.  chinese abstract (up to 500 words in length): contains the title of the file (in font size 20, font-family), text body (in font size 9, font-family, first line aligned to the left), and the keywords (in font size 9, font-family typeface, bolded, listed in order based on the number of strokes the first character of the keywords contains, and total numbers of keywords no more than 5). the contents of the abstract will contain a research purpose, research methods, research results, and research conclusions. no information about the author’s identity should be included.
2.  main body: the main body should consist of an introduction, research methods, research results/findings, and discussion and implications. further illustration regarding the heading systems and seriation; please refer to the chinese webpage.
3.  citations, tables and figures, and reference: the manusc ripts should follow the jcgc (journal of chinese guidance and counselling) citation and format style, and the apa (publication manual of the american psychological association, 6th ed.) style. you can find samples from published articles in our journal for more details and examples.
4.  english abstract (up to 300 words in length): the english abstract should contain the english title of the article, main body of the abstract, and keywords. english title should use times new roman typeface, font size 16, first letter of all words in capital and all others lower case, except for articles and propositions. all texts are in times new roman, font size 10, first line aligned to the left. all keywords should be bolded and listed in alphabetical order. the entire abstract should consist of research purpose, research method, research results/findings, and conclusion. no identification of the author(s) should be included.

1.  submissions are welcome anytime during the year. first come first review. 
2.  manusc ripts not in the jcgca and apa formats will not be taken into the review process.
3.  in order to preserve anonymity in the review process, the contributors should supply the editors with the manusc ript,  the contributor’s basic information form, and the copyright authorization form, in separate word files (the latter two are available on the tgca website). all documents are received through email: journal.cga@gmail.com in electronic copies.
 
article for copyright authorisation










 
all authors of a submitted manusc ript shall agree to assign all the copyrights of the submitted article to the taiwan guidance and counselling association. the tgca has the copyright in and to the material for publication throughout the world, in all forms and media, in chinese and other languages. it may also assign its rights to any third parties, under this agreement, for further usages including digitalizing, replication, database entry, and product services such as index, internet browse, online downloads, any forms of delivery, and printing. this article is a non-exclusive license. the licensors (authors of the original manusc ripts) is not excluded from exploiting the intellectual property rights.
 
please download the copyright authorization form from the attachments, fill it out and send a scanned copy of it along with your manusc ript and other forms when submitting.
 
peer review


 
all submitted manusc ripts will be subject to an anonymous peer review procedure. papers with conditional acceptance shall be revised by the authors according to the review comments before publishing.(review proess)
 
pre and post publication fee




 
all submission attempts will be charged a submission fee of $ 500 ntd. please send the transaction receipt along with the manusc ripts and author’s basic information form. if the manusc ript is rejected, the authors can receive a full refund. authors of accepted papers shall pay another $ 2500 ntd for the publication fee, if publication is pursued (applied to those who submitted after september, 2016).  all authors of published articles will receive two free copies of the volume.(giro deposit slip)
 
withdraw




 
the author can withdraw his/her submitted manusc ripts at anytime during the submission/reviewing process. in order to complete the withdraw procedure, a withdraw application form needs to be agreed on and signed by the editorial board and all authors. if the manusc ript has been placed under-review as the withdrawal is attempted, the submission fee will not be refunded to the authors as a result of compensation.
